What is a registration deadline?

A registration deadline is the cut off point for BCA and its instructors to decide whether to run a class. Each instructor sets a class minimum and maximum and if the minimum is not met by a week before class, BCA reserves the right to cancel the class. Many of our students call after the deadline or close to the start of class only to find that the class was cancelled because we needed one or two more students. We urge our students to register early!! Don't waitÉ. your favorite class may be cancelled.

What happens if a class is cancelled?

Once we have reached the registration deadline and the class has met the minimum number of students the class will proceed and no refunds will be issued. If, however, the class is cancelled by BCA due to low enrollment or instructor illness, the student will be called. You may keep your course fee in reserve as a credit for future classes, or you can ask to be moved into another class or, if you prefer, we will issue a refund.

Will you accept a late enrollment?

If we have met our class minimum and the instructor is willing we will take a late enrollment. There are no discounts for late enrollment and payment must be made to the BCA offices in person or by credit card over the phone. Teachers are not permitted to process registration payment. In some classes the instructor must purchase or pre-order materials and the late student may not receive these materials until the end of the session.

How long has BCA been offering classes?

In January of 1991 a small group of volunteers met to form an arts organization that would serve as a clearinghouse for arts and cultural events in Brecksville. Mayor Jerry Hruby charged this group to develop a program that would provide expanded opportunities for creating, learning and enjoying new experiences through various class offerings and programs. Since that initial meeting in the basement of the Highland Drive library building, the Center for the Arts has developed into a well established, professional center with classes and programs offered to a wide range of students. Outreach programs, scholarship offerings and increased community involvement have made the Center for the Arts an integral element woven into the tapestry of our community.
